Last week was the first weekend, and this week is the last weekend, for the Stove Factory Open Studios in Charlestown, at 523 Medford St. There’s art in the gallery downstairs, and I’ll be teaching classes on Saturday and having a guest artist staffing the space on Sunday. Here are some pics from last weekend!
Just a quick note to remind everyone that the Stove Factory building in Charlestown, 523 Medford Street, is having Open Studios both this Saturday and Sunday and next Saturday and Sunday. Come out to see the members’ show in the gallery, and come up to the second floor to check out Reflex Letterpress and other artists’ studios!
I just completed a really nice piece, figured I’d post it here. This is two-colors, PANTONE 709 and Cool Gray 6 on both sides, printed on Lettra 110#. Paper size 16″ x 8″, folded to 8″ x 8″. Lovely stuff.
Finally updated some older artwork for the California Job Case layout schematic and an example of proper typesetting for the new space. Maybe come on in to take a class or set some type and see them in person!
Got a nice collection of 18pt Stymie in last week, and I was able to get it distributed and ready to use. I’ll throw in a gratuitous shot from the class last weekend, reminding people that learning letterpress is merely a click away.
I’ve been having a fun time on eBay finding printing blocks, and not only holiday-themed cuts for the upcoming Albertine class on November 10th. If you’re not in the mood for a dreidel or turkey, perhaps a filing cabinet or abacus would be more your speed?
Brought in another oily waste can to better use the cleaning rags. Used rags in one bin, usable rags in the other. What’s a usable rag? If it still has white parts, it’s still usable, at least for first-pass press cleanup.
We’re starting up a new section in the shop, for featured artists! This is a place for artists who print at Reflex to show their prints and sell them to the general public. Please head over to the Shop and take a look at Rachel’s Typewriter prints.
Getting some fun printer’s blocks for upcoming Albertine classes. Got some holiday-themed blocks and some random imagery for funsies. The block images have been reversed to show how they’ll print.
