Description
Experimental Type: Lego! Saturday, July 26, 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Modern letterpress embraces many different techniques, technologies and topics, some aimed at production, some aimed at art — and some aimed at fun! The Reflex Letterpress Experimental Lego workshop is just one of those techniques. Mounted at the correct height for letterpress printing, Lego tiles can be used as a pixel-based substrate for variable, multi-color and customizable layouts. The only limitation is the size of the Lego baseplate.
During this two-and-a-half hour workshop, attendees will be able to use a wide variety of Lego tiles in various shapes and sizes to create their own design for printing on the Reflex presses. The Vandercook No 4 will be there for precision work, the Pearl Improved 8 for small compositions, and the Vandercook No 2 for larger and more artistic creations.
While the use of Lego bricks suggests the involvement of children, anyone can attend who has a little bit of the kid in them. If children do attend, parents or guardians must be present, and proper safety precautions must be followed.
