The post Grooove On Your Bad Self first appeared on Reflex Letterpress.]]> At my first job, working at a bookstore way back in the day, I had a pretty cool manager. Whenever anyone would come into the office to ask him if what they wanted to do was okay, he’d sit back, channel The Godfather Of Soul, and say, “Groove on your bad self.” That phrase became part of my oeuvre, and I would use it every now and then as the need arose.

When I became a college instructor in the art of letterpress and printmaking, however, I found that the phrase had utility far beyond my expectations. I tend to run an open classroom, so if you have a crazy idea, I’ll at least entertain determining if it’s both physically and mentally possible. If all seems to be in order, then it’s time to groove.

So put this 8×10 poster on your wall and let the groove take over. I think Jim Trawicki would be proud!
